RaveN (Rafael Poveda)

RaveNManaging the Mecus laboratory is my mission. Down here, we build, assemble and test all the new parts Luis dreams up and blueprints down to the last detail (and there are quite a few of them!).

Although I’m still completing a degree in Computer Engineering, I already have years of programming and software development experience. As a freelancer, I have worked on videogame programming, window management, operating systems, virtual reality modeling, databases, web design…

Finally, I decided to focus on PHP programming and worked for Mambo (now Joomla!) for a while. My next step was WordPress and for some time now I’ve been running the internal machinery here at Mecus, using WordPress as a CMS to manage content for our projects.

In 2000, I exchanged my html blogs for automated blogging. I’ve had blogs in LiveJournal, Blogger and WordPress—so I’ve seen these systems grow and evolve. This makes using—and squeezing every last drop of utility out of them—much simpler.

I am obsessed with optimization and accessibility, and at Mecus I’m really putting the technology to work for us. My goal: optimal communication for our clients. This means pushing the envelope when it comes to managing content, links and networks.

I wouldn’t want to sign out before expressing my gratitude:

  • To my mother and my sisters for their constant, unconditional support. Thank you, ;) .
  • To Fran, for things I don’t need to expound on here.
  • To Luis, for being crazy. And to Eva, for accompanying him in his madness.
  • To everyone else who is out there in each and every TwittSev, phone call, listserve, development forum, trac… thank you for everything you do :) .
